Lego Block

Lego Block
I remember as a young boy playing with Lego Blocks --I would play with them for what seemed liked hours. So maybe the child in me has come out a bit in making this tutorial. To begin, I made the shape of the Lego Block base in the color of e3a401 using the "Pen Tool."
I then created the top of the Lego Block with f2aa00 as the color.
The left side I used the color d7a601.
To get that shiny edge I have come to love, I used the "Line Tool" at 2 pixels with ffd711 as the color. I then gave it some "Outer Glow" with the size at 3 and opacity at 37%. The vertical line was again 2 pixels but with the color ecb208 and with "Outer Glow" with the size of 3 and opacity at 51%.
Next using the "Elipse Tool" create a circular shape as I have done below using the color ffb600. Next duplicate the circular shape and drag it below the first circle shape in the layers palette. Using the arrow button on your keyboard, move the second circle down once (one pixel).
Now that you have your circle, right click on the circle layer and select, "Blending Options...". Now click on "Gradient Overlay".
use settings at left and in fig 1
You may click "OK" after you have finished fig 1.
Fig 1
Next while holding in the "Alt" key on the keyboard, press the down arrow on your keyboard nine times. This will duplicate the circular shape layer and will move the layer down one pixel each time you click the down arrow.
Now select the "Pen Tool" and draw out the shadow of the now lonely peg, using the color af5d05.

Now right click on the shadow layer and select, "Blending Options...". Now click on "Outer Glow".
use settings at left
You may now click OK.
You should now have the following:
I have added a shiny egde to the top edge of the peg using basically the same procedure as in step 4. For this rest of the pegs, instead of going through the whole process, you can select all of the peg parts and either put them in their own group and give them the name peg (recomended) or you can merge the peices of the peg and duplicate. Then move them to the appropriate spot as I have done below.
The Results!!!
With a little creativity, you can create some pretty cool peices using Lego Blocks . I think I'm gonna play with my son and his Lego Blocks now. Have fun.
